What is your greeting on your answering machine or cell phone?  |

|  Right now mine just states our phone number and all our names. Depending on my mood or the time of the year, I change it.
Past Christmas's I have had the girls sing or one year our message said something like this: "We are busy feeding Santa's reindeer please leave us a message".
This past new year, I had a greeting that I was in a meeting with the Baltimore Ravens for a job interview as their new headcoach. That one got a lot of chuckles because all our friends know I am such a huge football fan.
As you can tell I have fun doing this.

| |  Not a smart idea to say no one is home right now. I would just leave it with we can't come to the phone. That way no info is volunteered to unwelcome guest.
Sorry, been there before and well, will not do that ever again as it is trouble telling people you are not home. I screen my calls and if I want to answer, I pick up if not they leave a message, but I am home

| |  I tried several things, and I never liked how I sounded, or the message sounded, so in the end I made it really simple. If someone gets my answering machine, all they hear is, "It's Amber, leave a message." But does it help that I sound really friendly when I say it? LOL

| |  Mine is a robot voice saying that you are free to leave a message though the toxic neuro gas has probably already taken effect on the owner of the phone. It's funny if you've played Portal. It's GLADOS.

I keep the generic guy on there... I hate answering machines!! LOL
I have been prone to turn it off... if they don't know my cell phone... well I probably don't want to talk anyway! LOL

| | Now see I'm the opposite, I hate my cellphone. I only have it for emergencies. When we were out the house I had the calls forwarded to the cellphone and I hated the constant interruptions. LOL Wow I sound like my dad, when our house phone use to ring. Before the days of answering machines, I would get so mad if he would tell me the phone rang but he didn't answer it. My feeling is that if it is important people will leave a message. | | | |

I get calls for about 6 different people who DON'T live with me and they hang up so I can't tell them. lol I hate my house phone and am getting it disconnected soon. Need me call my cell :)

| |  Mine is just the automated greeting, "The number you are trying to reach - 555-555-5555 - is not available. Please try your call again later. Or, at the beep, please leave a message." I hate the way my voice sounds on answering machines - like I actually am happy that you called (I have a hate-hate relationship with telephones, esp. with a sleeping baby).

Leaving names and phone # on the machine is giving anyone who doesn't know you information and act like they know you, so be careful with that. | | | | | | |
