We had an electrical storm here in Houston Texas....It shook my house, knocked pictures off my walls, and knocked out my satilite dish for my computers....WildBlue " just left after fixing all the burned out modems..I have not been able to be on Mylot,or answer any of your discussions..I am back now and i will try to get up to date on all my discussions, just wanted my friends to know why i have not answered you...It also knocked out one of my Tv's.it did not knock out my directv, but it just ruined my Tv....It was very scarey...Lightening struck a pine tree, flashed under my house went all through the house knocking things around,we were just sitting in our living room,it was so scarey, but now that it is over i realized we could have been killed or our house could have caught on fire..Today i am in a very Thankful Mood!!!!!

Wow what an experince that must have been I can certainly understand being 'thankful' I would too. I can only think of one time something similar to this happened to me - my sister and her family were over to my house and the adults were all setting in the living room. Because it had started raining out all the kids were inside too mostly back in their bedrooms playing. All of a sudden there was a huge flash of light in the hallway. First thing I did was yell at the older boys thinking they were up to something but they came running from their room yelling 'what was that'. After investigating come to find out lightening had hit the chimney for the furnuce and had sent a bolt right down through the furnace and out into the hallway. I was thankful then too - thankful no one was standing in the hallway when it happened.

Crazy me though - lightening and tornadoes, I'm terrified of them but fasinated at the same time. I'm the one standing on the porch watching at the same time yelling at the kids to get inside where it's safe - yea right, not all the time.

Wow, I am so glad that you are ok. Whenever we get lightning we unplug our computers. I had lightning hit the wires coming into the house before. It fried my tv, luckily my mom had called and warned me just before the storm hit. I didn't have a computer then but my son did and I hollered for him to shut down and unplug his equipment. He did it just in time too, it had been a nice sunny day and then boom, big storm. I used to work for a restoration/cleaning company. We did fires and water damages, many times I have seen what lightning can and does do, you are very blessed. You had Angels watching over you and protecting you.

Bl00dy h3ll!. How terrifying for you. That would have been a dreadful ordeal and I know I would have been scared out of my wits. I remember once a hail storm that had huge hail stones and was really fierce. The noise was deafening with the stones hitting the tin roof. I got my dog and daughter and grandson and we sat on the floor in the big built in cupboard in my room. It was so hard to be reassuring when I was so scared for our safety. I thought the house was going to collapse around us.

Thanks for all of the great advice. I use a great Houston electrician company called Mister Sparky. They provide great customer service and communicated with me the entire time they were fixing the electrical problem within my home. I would recommend this company to anyone with any type of electrical problems/outage. Here is the website --http://www.electricianhouston.com/. Again, thanks!
