do you agree that music being played in the background helps to de-stress and help in increasing quality of work. I feel relaxed and love to work when soft music plays at the back, but my Boss says it diverts our attention so we should try to work in a quiet environment to give maximum productivity. Do you agree?

I think that music playing at work always made my time go by faster, and helped me work a little faster. That is if it is something with a good beat to it.

i think it depends on the type of music and the mood you're in. for example,
when i'm doing work i love to have music on and i can generally work with
any type of music (rock, hip hop, alternative rock, etc) however there
is one ska/punk band that i listen to (called the johnstones).. that distracts
me everytime their songs come on! i don't know what it is, because i can listen
to catchy music and still do work, but when i hear their songs i have to
stop what i'm doing, sing a long to the song and then continue working!

i don't think so. i think music helps to de-stress us. doesn't matter what type of music as long as it is able to touch your soul... and u feel the song in return. i don't know about your boss, but i work well with music.
