Do actors/actresses get paid too much?

Yeah, I think actors are paid waaaay a lot. xD
And I also think these days people are too interested in other people's lives; we have countless reality shows and news shows about celebs.

I'd have to say yes. I realize that a lot of money comes in from cinema tickets, DVD purchases. But that is ridiculous. It shows how our society has placed a much too high value on entertainment. Most movies really are nothing but entertainment. And a lot of movies are really just junk, full of sexual material and violence and bad language, all three things I think people should not choose to watch, and certainly not pay money for the priveledge to watch. All the money is probably one reason that Hollywood is so full of people whose personal lives are out of control. They make so much money they don't know what to do with it, everything is available to them basically, except privacy and the ability to live like the average person.

Yes, they get paid entirely to much to stand in front of a camera and read some lines they have memorized. I'm not saying that acting is not hard work, I'm sure it is. There are long days starting at the crack of dawn and ending late into the evening. I must get on your nerves to have to do the same scenes over and over again. There is alot of pressure to look good all the time and heaven forbid if you don't it's splattered all over tv and the newspapers. Your life if like living in a fish bowl where every one can see what is going on all the time. However, you knew what you were getting into when you signed on to be a "megastar". That said the fact that they make this gross amount of money and the ppl who keep us safe like firemen, police men, or men and women in the armed forces, or the ppl that teach our children don't make even a 5th of that is just disgraceful. I feel the same way about athletes. Way over paid.

I definitely think they are paid too much! They work for less than a year and make a HUGE amount of money for careers that they LOVE. And they all seem to say how much they enjoyed working on the movie or the television show, so why give them such high a payday?

And while, like others mentioned, they bring in a lot of money, it's OUR ("common folk") money. Why not lower the prices of DVDs, theater tickets, or cable then??

And okay, I got to see first-hand what they do, but the ACTORS actually have it much easier! It's the CREW that really work day and night! The actors get to chat while the others set everything up! So while they are actually there for long hours, they do get breaks... and a lot of them between takes and scenes!

I also think athletes are paid too much (as kymommy72 mentioned). Again, lower the cost for tickets and you could lower their pay!

One more thing, what's even more ridiculous is how many of these celebrities think they DESERVE that much per movie role! How they won't work for any less than x amount of dollars! They have gotten so spoiled, and yet few actually produce anything more than a two hour distraction...

I better stop now because I could go on!

I definately think that they get paid too much. If you really think about it, most of them make more in a year than the average person makes in a lifetime. Then on top of that you get all the reporter (or whatever) running around taking pictures and acting all crazy. Come on these are just people. They act as if they are following around a bunch of alien beings or something.

hi nixxi! yeah, i think that actors and actresses are getting paid really dearly. i mean, yeah, their skills are specialized, but they are paid really high. but i guess, it doesn't stop there. their industry is really raking in a lot of profits. so it is no wonder that producers can pay them that much and even afford to give hefty commissions. take care and God bless you!:-)

I think it's a bit over the top.. 20 mil... Money is the only thing that ruins a man.. a lot of money turns him into a worthless actor with a lot of fans..

I think about this and I heard the guy that played Harry Potter, Daniele Radcliff, was getting 50 million dollars a film, I say yes they are making to much, can you imagine how much money that is?

While people may have taxes and see that amount decrease, I have to say that yes they are over paid. When the Friends show finally ended, they were making 1 million an episode, a far lot more than when they first started.

Can you imagine how much good that could do to so many people if put to better uses,

I'm not sure if they are. Maybe some are, but you have to think actors for the big screen is different that just actors for a sitcom, I would think. There is a lot of responsibility to know the lines, but not only that, but to feel the character and become the character. Besides that they have to present a certain image. They can't be owning a hoopdie car and live in a double wide trailer... they have to be paid to stay in the movies... and if they were not paid enough they would be hard pressed to find really good actors. It is the same with football and baseball, these are the heros that everyone wants a picture of... so I think they deserve whatever they get.

Yeah thats too much for a person ..! to that heavy price.. contributors.. are "press/media.." i firmly believe that media plays important role ..in all this trade business..! Ones media makes anybody celebrity ..then its hard for the celebrity to think on the price.. to maintain social statue.. in that specific category ..they always.. go high.. on the earning.. i dont know ..i still feel strongly that Media/press is the both good & Evil for most of the things.. in this world ..! May be my response is little off the Record ..but..! its the Fact..!
