Comfortable Men's Dress Shoes? |
| |
| I am on my feet all day at work, walking on concrete and my poor feet are sore. Can anyone reccomend some good, comfortable men's black dress / dress casual shoes for me to wear? I am currently using a pair of rockports and a pair of sketchers and neither is getting the job done. I really want something professional and stylish looking yet functional. My only other issue is that I have small feet: 7-8 depending on manufacturer and usually a narrow. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance. | | | | | |

| | Thanks for the suggestion! I guess I should have mentioned that I want a pair of lace up shoes, they just fit better. I will look into the Florsheim's though. Thanks! | | | |

| | Mostly I'm just dropping by to say hello, filmbuff. It's good to see you :) I used to wear Rockports because they are supposed to be so comfortable, but I have to say they were some of the most uncomfortable shoes I've ever worn. I have no idea what shoes to recommend you. I'm sorry. | | | | | | |

| | Trans! So good to see you my friend! I was hoping you were still around here! Everyone recommended Rockports, but I agree that they are very uncomfortable and they wear out way too quick. | | | |

| | Hello filmbuff!:-) It’s been long that I have had the chance to talk to you, I hope all is well at your end!? It’s good to see you!:-) It’s a tough question because safety and comfort usually work together only with compromise. So, there can be an ‘optimum’ compromise but not something that is best in both dimensions. And then, what works best for one, may not be the best for other. I personally liked a customized pair of shoes that look like, and more or less feel like, dress shoes but are actually Military style shoes from safety point of view. They work well on mountains, rocky surfaces, in water etc and you can present yourself at dinner on your return! (Provided that they are clean) :-) If Rockports and skechers haven’t worked for you, you may like to try Carolina Core 4x4 or Carolina Core Back to Basic or Caterpillar Salvo. One can’t really know what can work best unless one tries! I hope to see you around, my friend!:-) | | | | | | |

| | Kamran! Great to see you too! I will look into the Carolina Core shoes. Military (as in functional) might not be bad, there are times when I have to run... | | | |

| | Hi, I'm a female so don't wear men's shoes, so can't recommend a good brand for you ;o). But I do also have extremely sensitive feet that can get painful and blisters easily. So what has helped me in all shoes (and I avoid all high heels and skimpy women's dress shoes) is shoe padding. I've tried many different kinds. It's the ball of my feet that hurts the must, so need most padding on there. - Sometimes I use ball padding (and often you can use heel padding for the ball, which seems to be sold more often. - Heel padding, which there is more of as stated above. - Foot foot padding. So many different types. There aer types that are very thin, which for me, woudln't help. I actually get shoes one size too big, because - I buy thick padding. And this takes up lots of space, upping the need for the size. Hope that helps! | | | | | | |

| | Thanks for the advice. I've tried a lot of that stuff and have come to the realization that if you buy a decent pair of well fitting shoes, you shouldn't need all that stuff. Hence this topic, because I've yet to find one. I'm willing to spend a few hundred if needed... | | | |

| | Depends. I have found thatin all my sneakers, I've even bought top line sneakers (which is the only clothign type of thing I would spend so much on for need) as my feet are so sensitive. But I still need extra padding. If you worse sneakers and had to stand all day, would your feet react the same way? If so, I'd think you still nee better padding. Good luck. | | | |

| | Good point. Actually I used to wear sneakers at the same place doing a different job. My feet did not nearly bother me as much as they do now which makes me think it's the shoes. | | | |

| | Rather than shoes, maybe you should be considering good insoles to put inside your shoes? You might consider some SAS or In Step shoes. | | | | | | |
filmbuff (1336)
|

| | I will look into SAS I've heard a lot of reccomendations for them. My father worked in the shoe industry for 30 years (he's no longer with us) and basically his opinion is that if you get a good pair of well fitting shoes you shouldn't need that other stuff. I kind've agree. Thanks for the suggestion, really. :) | | | |

| | Thanks so much D for the advice. I've looked at the echo's since they have such a good reputation, but so far the only stores that carry them don't carry them in a small enough size. I have this problem a lot...I swear I should just fly to Japan, buy clothes and shoes and come back. Then I could get stuff off the shelf and racks that actually fits. :) | | | |

| | I cannot recommend good shoes for you. But I can recommend inner soles for you. I also worked on concrete floors and my feet and legs would ache all the time. I found inner soles that are filled with either gel or liquid. They were fantastic, just like walking on water. No more aching feet and legs. | | | | | | |

| | Gee D, I do not know. But I would say they have. go to your local pharmacy and ask. I think they were called "Aqua soles" I cannot remember. But they are excellent. You have no pressure on your feet or legs. The ones I had were filled with blue liquid. | | | |

| | The soles can help, my main problem really is that most shoes don't fit. Qaulity shoes don't seem to comein a small enough size. When I've added the gel insoles they do help, but it messes with the arch, for me at aleast. Nike used to make tennis that had the liquid insoles built in. They were most comfortable of shoes I've ever owned. | | | |
