What is the best vacation you've taken and why?  

What's a vacation?

OK, I'm being a little sarcastic. I think the best one I can remember would be the anniversary trip my wife and I took to a small town here in Wisconsin.
The town itself wasn't very memorable (the best restaurant was Subway, to give you an idea) but I had gotten us the honeymoon suite and that was fantastic. Our only regret is we forgot our camera.

Sounds great. In fact I will be in Punta Cana on business next week and have been told that there is not too much to do there !?!

I have afternoons free and plan on maybe scuba divind, jet skiing, etc....other water sports that are included at the resort that I will be at.

Do you have any suggestions on what to do in town? I've looked at several travel websites though I would like to hear it from an actual vacationer, without the fluff.

My favorite vacation is when I went to New York and spent a few days in Manhattan with two of my best online friends. It was a totally awesome time. Love them and hope we can do it again sometime.

I've heard that's a nice area, but it sounds pretty removed from the rest of the country, I guess because parts of the country could be dangerous.

I went to Guatemala a few years ago, which I really enjoyed. Some parts can be dicey, but the places I went to were fine. I liked mingling with the people and walking through the local street bazaars, which are where most natives do their shopping. Guatemala is a very inexpensive place, too.
