The New York Times has a report in todays paper that states that a boy version of the HPV shot will be available in 2009. Do you think that it is important to vaccinate boys?
My son is 9 and I feel that this is an important vaccination. I hope he is not sexually active with a lot of females, but I know that I can not control that. I would rather him be protected from something he would give his future mate without even knowing that he had it. Plus this could save him from getting embarrassing genital warts.

My son hates shots but he is getting this. When he saw the commercials on TV he asked if I was going to get it. I told him no that I was not eligible. So he understand what the shot is for, I don't see why he would not want to get it done.

I have done A LOT of research on the HPV shot for women and I have not come up with one good reason to get it for myself or my daughter let alone get it for my son.
I am one of those people that doesn't get a vaccination just because it is out there I look into it, look at side effects, how it really works, how long it has been out, and so forth.
According to the FDA's web site, the HPV shot does NOT prevent you from getting it in fact it works like a flu shot it actually gives you the virus so your body imuane system can build the antibodies before you actually get it (if you get it)
Here is a link that may explain better then I did. It also sites differenet web sites that will give you even more information, including the link to the FDA site. http://youtube.com/watch?v=XK97CHQZhq0
Every one is entitled to there opinion my opinion is to NOT get the HPV shot for myself (I am still in the age group) or kids. I truly hope that you will at least look at this information before getting the shot for your self or children and I hope that you will share the informtaion with others.
