All Sports Drinks have water in them. Water is so very important to all of us. We need water to survive. Water will hydrate us when we are dehydrated. So if water will hydrate us, why do so many people spend so much money on sports drinks to get hydrated? There are many different brands of Sports Drinks. How do we know what is really best brand or do we just choose a brand because of an ad in a magazine or on TV? Do we choose a brand because we like the way it sounds? Or do we choose a brand because the bottle looks cool? Sports Drinks have more than just water in them. They have additives that replaces the minerals that our body looses during strenous activities. These additives will help replenish the energy supply that our muscles need to keep from shutting down. Do you drink sports drinks? How do you choose a brand? Why do you drink them?

i do use them specially after a very tiring activity and i usually get the one i use to drink "gatorade" . the only way to know which is best is to try them and i find gatorade to replenish the much needed fluid in my body. locally, here in our country we have this powder sachet called "extra joss" and it is a lot cheaper. well, the best there is still water, we use alkaline water or it is called ionic water , better than any bottled water such as purified and distilled because they are just plain liquid , they are not water because it is not life and energy giving liquid.

We drink Gatorade, but not all of the time. Most sports drinks have "electrolytes" in them. That is a fancy name for salts and minerals. They also frequently have some sugar, some citric acid. We keep the canister portions of Gatorade, because my husband gets upset stomach and has loose stools often, and nose bleeds. The electrolytes are good at replenishing balanced body fluids in both of those instances. Same for if we are working outside and sweating a lot. I have read on here, several times, that two glasses of Gatorade will stop or alleviate most headaches. I know it helps them feel better, I cannot say that it has ever cured my headaches. If it helps, chances are because it brings fluids into balance, and adds magnesium, which relaxes tension and muscle spasms, even in blood vessels. We choose Gatorade because it is the oldest and best known. I have given it to children to rehydrate when they have stomach virus symptoms.

I was actully told to drink gatorade when ever I found out I was having shakes. Water wasn't enough by itself to help me with having problems with electrolites last year. I still get shaking but that is also due to me having spacisity problems from ms.

Now and then I drink Gatorade while I'm exercising or shall I say when I use to exercise. It was just an energy booster really as sometimes I felt I needed a bit more of a kick than just drinking water.
