When you go to your doctor for whatever reasons,do you check the drug your doctor gives you to see if it interacts with the drugs you take on everyday? When you reach a certain age, most people do have to take a drug for something..I now take a blood pressure pill, and a colesterol pill because i have aquired these problems over the years...It does not matter how good your doctor is they fail to tell you some little details, thats why they put drug intractions in your perscription drugs you have filled...There are actually drugs your doctor will give you that you cannot get in the sun while taking, also drugs you cannot eat certain foods with while taking....I like grapefruit and i was eating grapefruit all the time, after checking my medications and readng up on them i found that eating grapefruit interacted with one of my medications,it did not kill you but caused the drug to become inactive, which means you are just taking it for nothing...This has happened to me several times..When asking my doctor about it,i found that the patient has some responsibiliy also,we are supposs to read the warning signs on drugs...After my Mom got really sick,we found one medication she was taking was actually not good to take with one drug she took daily...So do you check your drugs or do you just rely on your doctor to tell you every detail?????????????

I have always been careful with medications. I kept up with my hubby's medicine. I was the pill police, I have a pill book and would check things out that way and also read the warnings and side effects from the pharmacy. We all need to educate ourselves when it comes to taking medicines. It also helps if you get all your medicine from one pharmacy, that way the computer will usually pick up on medicines you shouldn't take when taking other stuff. I do know about the grapefruit thing. Also there are some med's that you should limit sun exposure and another one that you can't eat licorice with.
