my mother met an accident 2 weeks ago which made her sprained her right ankle, i gave her first aid by doing a hot and cold compress and putting her feet in bandage but nothing happens. her feet became sore and it aches so much. i want her to bring to an orthopedic to consult about her feet but she doesn't want to since she worry about the money i will spend to the doctor so i ended up buying mefenamic acid and other pain reliever to aid healing.
until now she can't walk and i am becoming worried.
can anyone advise me on what to do?

Definitely see a doctor. Her ankle should have healed in a day or two. Anything beyond that indicates the possibility of a serious injury or even a broken ankle.

If it is not a very serious sprain, you should try using "RICE": Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation
But if it is very bad, I think that you will need to see a doctor for it... It could get worse if you do not do something about it, I think.
But I am no professional, perhaps someone else can better give advice.

I think the best thing to do is to take your mother to the doctor... it might not be just an ordinary sprain... just tell her that if you won't go to the doctor now... you might spend more when the sprain gets worst...
She might end up having surgery which could have been averted if she only went to the doctor early...

Maybe you knew about this, that here in our country we are practiced to see some massage therapist or what we (hilot) they know how to handle sprain. It hurts but sometimes it is the best way to ease the swollen.

i would advise you to bring her to a hospital and have a check up on her sprained foot...always remember that it is much wiser to go to a doctor when something like that happens and never wait for it to get more complicated which in turn would mean more hospital expenses than treating a sprained ankle...

A sprained ankle is hard to heal. :(
When it happened to me, I went to a chinese physician. They will twist and turn and try to right things.
I am not sure if you have them in your area...
