I am a backpacker sometimes and always an independent traveler. I went backpacking around Europe when I was 18. I began in Finland because I had been working there then I took a ferry over to Sweden. I saw Stockholm before heading up past the Arctic Circle to Narvik. Then I went to Oslo, Bergen and Copenhagen. Next I visited Cologne, Brussels, Bruges and Ostend. Then I went to Vienna, Budapest and Salzburg. Lastly i went to Paris on my way home to England.
When I was 20 I took off on another backpacker trip around the world. I was away just over a year and I worked in Australia for some of the time. I stopped off in Los Angeles, Hawaii, Fiji, Sydney, Adelaide, Cairns, Darwin and Singapore. I explored South East Asia for a month using Singapore as a gateway to Indonesia and Malaysia. Yes, I recommend backpacking for travelers of all different age groups. i advise the people to buy a backpack and stay at youth hostels.
