Commenting on every response...?

Ok, I did a search and found a few discussions from close to a year ago, and I am sure myLot and people have changed since then so I am asking again.
I'm not talking about if it is worth it ($$) to comment. I know comments do not directly affect our earnings. I am talking more about the community and feeling like I am acknowledging that I read what someone took the time to say to me.
On the one hand I feel like if someone took a moment to respond to my post then I should indicate (by leaving a comment) that I took time to come back and read it. I know I like seeing that someone read my response. On the other hand, sometimes what they wrote, while it may be good and relevant it doesn't lend itself to any further comment. Or, I have seen posts with pages upon pages of responses- surely the starter person is not going back and commenting on every one?
So, how do you feel if your response is not commented on? Or if some are and some aren't? Does everyone just sort of know that not every response is commented on and that's ok? I definitely go back and rate them...is that enough? Do you even care?
Do you go back and comment on all of the responses? Only certain ones? Why do you choose the ones you choose? What if there really isn't anything more to say than "thanks for responding"...? Pages and pages of responses- what do you then? Do you only comment on your friends responses?

Thanks- I do rate every one and select a best response if nothing else.

IMO this is where the use of resolving our discussion comes in, the fact that we've chosen a best response on it would give us the option to comment on the responses or not. I for one, loves to comment and at least point out some information provided to us by that responder. A one-lined comment is what I sometimes give, since there are occasions where responders tend to repeat an opinion since they don't get the time to read through all of the numerous posts previous posters have given.
Not really sure why others would tend to skip on well-thought of posts, since I believe they deserve to be commented and acknowledged. Lots of posters and thread starters have tons of alibis and excuses, so I'll just let them have their own explanations here.
Also, I haven't received a huge number of response on my own discussions so that could be one reason. But I have seen some that even received more than a hundred, where the host still give a time to read, rate and comment on it.
The one's that I usually skip at are those irrelevant responses, but I do rate almost every responder positively.

Only because I haven't been here for about a week, I am now able to go back to my discussions from a week ago and rate all, choose best response, and comment where I feel it is necessary. Maybe that is the beginning of a system for me...? Thanks for your response.

I always comment to every response to my discussion... i started doing this like 3 months ago... it can surely be taxing... especially when i have like 40 responses and some are only oneliners... but then... leaving a comment is like a form of appreciation for taking time to read the discussion... and kind enough to leave a comment...
I can always think of something to say for a comment... even at times i fell like i am repeating myself over and over again... but that is just the way it is... i would always feel glad when someone comments to my response... so i also do it...

That is sort of how I feel...like I am expressing appreciation for responding and acknowledging their input. Thank you!

"How do you feel if your response is not commented?"
I'm not very happy but I prefer to have an useful comment I can also reply than a one liner not that useful. So if the poster doesn't have anything to add to what I've said it's better not to anser IMHO
"do you go back and comment on all of the answers?"
Well not everyone but some of them yes. I'm a bit lazy to answer to everyone and as I've said I don't like to give oneliners as reply

Becoming more fimiliar now with myLot and how it works. If I start a discussion, I try my best to go back and comment on each response I have received. Only because I believe it to be the polite thing to do. They gave their time to respond, I feel I should acknowledge that fact. However, I am sure I missed some along the way, after all, I am only human.

Nowadays i am a bit particular on this. I try to comment on as much as of my discussions. earlier i do not used to comment so much.i think it also increases the visibility of the discussion if we do so.it also like we have come back to rad the answers.

Logging on to our favorite myLot, watching friendly discussions, adding up new friends ,starting new discussions, assigning best response status - these activities keep most of us busy.It would not always be possible to respond to each and every discussion for obvious reasons. As for me; I am rather selective in responding .A friend's topic does not always get priority.Happy myLoting.

If someone responds to my discussion, I like to try and acknowledge that I have noticed and appreciate it, unless I dont really get what they are on about. Because sometimes people leave comments that make no sense and so I cannot say anything back really. It doesnt really matter to me if no one comments on a response I make, after all I am just saying what I feel or what I would do so it does not matter to me if there is no comment made. I comment to everyone I can who leaves me a responce even if its only to say thanks for responding I dont just favour certain people.

Interesting question.
I try to respond to most everyone that makes a comment, but there are a few discussions that got quite lengthy and honestly, the person didn't write anything that I could respond to.
In that case, I'm sure there are a few that I've missed, but for the most part, I do try to leave something to acknowledge that I appreciate they're input.
As for my own responses, I leave quite a few of them and there's no way I would even know if every one of them was commented on, so no, it doesn't bother me.
