A new friend of mine has a rabbit coat and a beaver coat. I tease her and ask her how many animals had to die to keep her warm? In the meantime, she is a vegetarian. I guess I am the opposite of her, as I do eat meat, mostly chicken, but I refuse to ever wear fur or leather made from an animal. I guess we are both hypocritical in our beliefs. Do you own any clothing made from dead animals? PEACE

Well I can't see the difference between an animal dying for fur or for meat. The aniaml doesn't care does it? I never heard of one saying "you can kill me to eat but not to wear". Ridiculous. Indeed, I would say furbearers have perhaps the best treated of all farmed animals. Judge for yourself: http://www.stkl-fpf.fi/user_nf/default.asp?root_id=7176&ala_id=8189&site=2 mink for example have great big boxes to themselves as they are solitary animals. They have to be happy as stress leads to fur loss so use your head. You think the people that care for them and rear them are going to kill them inhumanely? Chickens on factory farms? And you think that is okay to eat? Oh wait. You've seen those videos haven't you? The ones nobody knows where they were filmed. Well maybe they were staged: http://www.furcommission.com/news/newsC7.htm Now the Canadian furcouncil have just launched a campaign directed by Paula Lishman the fashion designer. Her husband is the famous conservationist Bill Lishman so take heed. They desrve to be listened to; http://www.furcouncil.com/ecological.aspx Now a few of you say leather is okay. What is the difference? Oh we eat the meat. Well actually rabbit beaver nutria and seal is always eaten too so what is the difference? And native people, for whom fur often provides their only income, keep the northern forest from development so that the animals are abundant. And they consider that you honour the animal by wearing its fur. Contrast that longevity of value and appreciation in contrast to a quickly scoffed KFC. So isn't that what your friend is doing? She clearly loves her fur and values them. That is respect ...more than most people show for the KFC chicken which is gone in a few minutes and only provides energy for a day. Oh and before the vegans start...synthtic clothes are all made of extremely environmentally damaging petro chemicals and soya destroys habitat. In Argentina it has almost wiped out Jaguar. So I have no ethical objection to fur whatsoever. Quite the contrary in fact. I think girls look glamorous in it. Wouldn't eat factory farmed chicken though. And I only drink milk and at cheese if I can from good farms where they don't kill the bullock straight away to make it cheap for supermarkets. Well whose milk did you think you were drinking? Its a fact of life....all we can do is ensure good welfare. Fur farms have that; the biggest survey in the EEC by welfare experts proved it. And nobody did till PETA started telling us fur was cruel. And now we find what they have been up to: http://www.petakillsanimals.com/petaTrial2.cfm Talk about hypocrites.

I am vegetarian and I am happy wearing clothes made of fabric. I am not vegan. Means, vegans declare not to use anything that comes from animals. Vegetarians don't. I do eat some eggs and I do eat some cheese. I don't eat meat and I don't wear furs. I have few pairs of shoes made from leather. I wouldn't wear furs.

Hello there, I don’t wear fur as it is very expensive to pay for and not easy to look after. There is pointless to wear fur if I can find the artificial one more trendy and fashion. Especially I live in the tropical zone, which it never snows. In addition, I don’t like the idea to kill animals just for making the fur.
