Hello laurika. I am so sorry that your mother had a fall, but glad to know that she is ok now with nothing serious. Usually when the phone rings in the middle of the night, it means that there must be something urgent or special taking place. Sometimes I have a cell phone call from some cell phone numbers that I do not know in the middle of the night, but once I answer it, it will stop without trying to talk to me. I am wondering who makes that kind of harrassment call, which is annoying to me. I had one last night. It rang for a few seconds before it stopped while I was sleeping almost asleep. Thanks for your discussion, laurika. Bless your mom and dad and you as well.

I cannot block that number. Besides it is sometimes a different number. There were a few times when I immediately pressed the key to answer the phone, but it is a recorded call saying that "you have already won an award. Please call...". I hate this kind of calls, disturbing our normal life.
Thanks so much for your response, dear laurika.

I'm glad to hear your mom is OK, that would be so scaring! I've had to make calls like that to my sister when something happened to my dad years ago. If I get a call after midnight, I assume it to be bad. I sleep with the phone right by me, and I sleep lightly, so I wouldn't be jarred out of sleep, but it would scare me.

If my phone rings after 10pm or before 9 am I know something is wrong. I knew something was wrong in November when my phone rang at 6 in the morniing and it was my mother in law. My husbands grandpa was taken to the hospital his heart had stopped. I don't like getting calls like that.

I have to say with the choice of having caller id, I know whether or not it is an emergency by looking before answering. Most everyone in my family and close friend's know that we try to go to bed pretty early so we can get up early so they won't call after a certain hour unless it is an emergency. Same goes for me calling my mom, I won't call her after 9 pm because her husband has to get up at 5 am to get ready for work. We have had a few calls in the middle of the night before letting us know if something has happened, most of my grandmother's falls happen during the day so we are easy to get ahold of.
