We Have Enough Youth, How About a Fountain of Smart?

Here I go on yet another rant about stupid people. I could make payout 10 times a year if I posted nothing but discussions about stupid people. Yesterday I had to go to my daughters therapy appointment for my daughter. This is the first one I have been invited to attend by dad in over a year. The rant about the therapist will be saved for another discussion but now I am going to complain about receptionists. The waiting room (all 6 chairs) are filled when I get there. An elderly gentleman stands up to offer me his seat and I decline, telling him I will be sitting long enough when it is my turn to go back. My daughter and her dad aren't there yet. The receptionist comes to the window looks me up and down but doesn't say a word. A few minutes later she comes out to address one of the other people sitting there. She has a billing statement in her hand and she is going on and on about how certain services this mans child is receiving there aren't covered by their insurance and "if you look right here at the bottom sir you will see that you owe us a total of $1500" which she goes on to explain is the total from way back when his son started receiving services there back in June of 2007. The man is embarrassed. I am appalled. You don't discuss someone's bill with them in a crowded waiting room. And I guess a bigger question is, how on earth did this stupid office girl who handles the billing NOT realize their claims were being denied MONTHS ago? How did they let him accrue a $1500 bill and still make the child another appointment? The man said he would talk it over with his wife and get back to her. So she turned her attention to me. "And you are?" She asked me. I said I was my daughters mother and that my daughter wasn't there with her dad yet so I was just waiting. She said ok, I didn't recognize you is all", and went back through the door she came out of. Not 30 seconds later she was back in the waiting room asking me for the co-pay for my daughters appointment. My daughter has insurance through both me and her father so there isn't a copay. His insurance pays for the visit my insurance covers the co pay. So I asked how much the copay was and was told $30. I advised this woman that if she has been collecting copays for my daughters services for the past 18 months then their company owes her father or whoever else has been paying them $540. She choose to argue with me right there in the waiting room and tell me how wrong I was. I was already angry so I pulled out my cell phone and called my insurance in the middle of this woman's incessant talking. I held my hand up to her face to shush her when my call got answered by the Customer Service rep at my insurance provider. I asked the question. I got the answer and then I made sure to ask much louder than I needed to "Can you please explain that to this stupid receptionist at my child's therapist's office who is insisting that I pay her $30 for the copay?" Then without waiting for an answer I held my phone out to the receptionist. SHE ROLLED HER EYES at me and went back through the door and made her own call to the insurance company. Turns out Miss Sally Sunshine never billed my insurance as secondary and that is why they were collecting copay for the past 18 months. I wonder how some people get their jobs. Have you ever had to deal with a rude receptionist or customer service rep? Have you been the customer that was truly right?

a fountain of smartness sounds like a good idea to me , i think its not so much that people are stupid ,but just lack common sense ,they dont think before they act ......
