I did. I both liked it and disliked it. I liked it because it was an inventive idea. I disliked it because of how I feel about celebrities and how much they hate the media. I believe that they get what they asked for. If you chose a life in the public eye, you can't complain when the paparazzi keeps you in that public eye. If you stop getting your picture taken by them and stop being on the covers of magazines, your name is said a lot less in each household and, why are you a star if you don't want people to know about you and think about you, perhaps talk about you in their homes or at the water cooler? Or read about you?
So, doing a show which sticks it to the very people who have made you a regularly said household name is sort of biting the hand that feeds you.
Paris Hilton's was funny. But, Avril Lavigne was a potential slap in her fans faces. If they saw the magazines that said she was pregnant and were all happy for her and perhaps sent her well wishes or gifts, as some fans do, then they found out she staged it to screw the paparazzi and the public up, how are her fans going to react? She didn't think about the impact of lying to them. When I was a teenager, I might have been betrayed and, being a sensitive teen, I might have boycotted her back then. So, could she have turned her sensitive teen fans off? Couldn't this potentially hurt her already suffering career?
I like the idea of this show but, with the spoils of celebrity brings the pain of notoriety.
