Can children earn money?

It all depends on what he wants to do. Here most kids end up getting paper routes or babysitting jobs between the ages of 8-15. My daughter wants to do a paper route and we are going to try to get her set up for one soon. I think as long as she keeps her grades up we will start her out on this. She really wanted to do babysitting but I told her I think she is still to young. She's 11.

Our teenage daughter has a talent for graphic design. She likes creating designs using Adobe Photoshop. She learned to use this all by herself and she often uses it for school projects. Since my s/o is a web developer, my daughter likes participating in projects that he has whenever she's free from schoolwork. She is so enthusiastic to work on new projects with him. So to reward her for her constant participation, we decided to give her a few bucks for every work she does, on the condition that she will keep up with the good grades that she's been getting all these years. It's not much, but she's always too happy to work on a new project. She saves up the money that she earns little by little and buys new stuff for herself and she's so proud of her accomplishments. Just yesterday she was showing off to us the new MP4 that she bought with the money she had been saving. By doing this, we are able to motivate her to discover and to hone her talents and to be able to choose what she would take in college. She's actually divided now because she also loves sciences like biology, life and the human anatomy, but she's crazy about graphic designing!

Over the summer my son does some yard work. He's 10. I think its ok. he knows that the one way to make money is to earn it. of course studing is important but theres a time and place for everything.

I believe that there is opportunity for everyone. It really does not matter how old or young you are. I am 19 and I am in a network marketing business, but usually you do not find someone my age in something like this. But I chose to take this opportunity, because most people wait till they get up in age. I do not want to settle for less. But your son he can at least do yard work. I remember me and brother, and cousins we would get together and do yard work all around the neighborhood. Everytime, we pretty much came up with something. One time we made about 100 dollars in one day.

I think it depends on the child and what he/she wants to do. I think that even working at home for an allowance is a good start. I think that it is good when they are in high school age to have some sort of pt job, that way they aren't clueless when they leave the nest on how to save and spend money. On the other hand some kids really need all their time to study to keep their grades up. You know your son better then we, you will know when he is ready just go with that gut instinct.

If your family owns a business maybe your kid can help.. But its not the right time for him to sacrifice just to earn .. he need his time for his childhood activities and studies
