|  I occasionally dream about going back to my old grade school and hanging out in the halls, visiting the classrooms, and seeing how things have changed.
Now I get to do it for real! There is going to be a benefit/awards ceremony honoring Vince Gill (we went to grade school together - he was a grade ahead of me, but we were on the same YMCA baseball team). The tickets (because they want to revamp the old auditorium and fix up the school) are $500 a pop, but a buddy of mine from back then called me and said another friend of ours has done quite well and bought 20 ticket, of which one would be for me if I agreed to show up.
I'm not a big country music fan, but I am definitely going because most of our old baseball team and many of our classmates will be there. Our baseball coach is going, too.

| | Words can't describe how excited I am to be going - and it's more because I'm going to see friends that I haven't seen in over 30 years. The girl who tried to kiss me in the second grade is going to be there. She tricked me into going over to her house after school one day because there were workmen digging a ditch in their back yard (hardhats, heavy equipment, piles of dirt, and a deep ditch - she knew how to get to an 8-yr-old's heart), and then she tried to kiss me. At that age, all boys know that if you kiss a girl then you have to get married and have kids - I was too young for that! | | | |
