Wonder if boycotting a magazine would make them wake up to themselves.....?

This is in regards to an Australian footballer, who I must say I did admire at one stage......THEN he decided to play up with another team-mates' missus and even though he was married at the time, and to my surprise his "then" wife took him back. Even to the point of bringing a child into the world.
But playing up he only seems to know, so marriage ended and left the team he was playing for at the time. Did go to another team but then quit and is now in the news again...new lady, revelations of abuse towards her and even a glass smashed in her face. AND he is also wanted overseas for offences he has commited over there.
Now the big question here is, is he a "role" model for future up and coming footballers? Then to top it off a magazine has paid him big money to tell his story which includes drugs and alcohol abuse. Also has pics. of his little girl in this interview.
Why is it that someone who is looked up to and goes off the deep end, is made a celebrity for his wrong doings!
What message does this send out to the young ones of today? Would you boycott this magazine to show your disaprroval of this "man"?

First... I would want to know...
Why is it that anyone who become famous for being good at something... has to be a role model?
This guy is just a normal human with his personal problems. He is one of those people who cannot control his emotions and go to extreme...
It is obvious that he think with his D..k and don't have a brain. But what do you expect from a guy who plays football?
He just happen to be able to play football and he is good at it... So what?
If you want a role model... should you not look for someone who actually achieves something in life?
Sport people and movie actors are there to entertain us... not to be role models. Not unless you want your children to be famous sportmen or actors.

Yes I agree with what you have said, but the latest "try" that the powers-of-be are thinking of doing, in regards to all the excessive drinking problems, is to have footballers talking or being role models as they call it, to put a message out there that they should think twice to what they are doing! My question would be is are these footballers the right ones to do this seeing as the behaviour of some and recently too, have a big impact on the younger ones, or even not so young ones!

Just saw this question... which made me think of your question.
The Florida Senate wants public school students to pull up their pants. Lawmakers passed a bill Thursday that could mean suspensions for students with droopy britches. It won't become law unless the House of Representatives passes a companion measure. It's about time don't you think???
Which raise the question...
Do you think rap singers are good role models?
Considering they taught teenagers to dress like slobs...
