Wearing Ties? Is it necessary.....

What is the need of wearing tie? I simply can't make out its use.. In a humid and hot place like India.. It just gives you the discomfort of havin a tight knot in your neck.... Why do companies insist on this....???? What particular benefit does it make..... I believe many will agree with my view... Please provide with your views in this regard.....

it is just a symbol of dignity . as you said ,it is not required in India !

An image a company wants to represent, a tie does add a certain something, although as you said, can distract from more important issues under certain conditions.
