A postal worker in Florida is charged with stealing a credit card number from someone's mail and using it to pay her own bills. You can watch the video here. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21134540/vp/23727151#23727151 Have you or anyone you know had an ID theft incidence? What do you think about a postal worker doing something like this? Have you ever had a problem with your mail carrier? I had one who was very finicky about how cleared out of snow the box was...it was a bit of a pain. Or if someone was parked in front of it (because of where our box was he knew it wasn't our car) he just wouldn't deliver. And, technically, he didn't have to...but my parents mailman is awesome- he will go out of his way, I have even seen him pull up further, park, and walk the mail back to the box to put the mail in it because he couldn't pull up to it due to a car being in the way.

It worries me. Didnt seem like we had issues like this in the past. Or at least it wasn't public. Our mailman is awesome. He delivers to our house if the package won't fit in the box. I trust him implicitly with our mail but I ask.. what about before it gets to us? That really makes me think about the postal system in a way I've never had before.

That is very true...it goes through a lot of hands before getting to our mailbox. *sigh* Thank you for responding.

Wow, you did have a finiky mailman! I have not watched the video, but I assume this postal worker, did get charged... I hope so at least. How scary is it when you cant even trust a postal worker with your information! They go through background checks and everything before thy get hired. That just comes to show that you need to be very careful with your personal information and credit cards. By the way, I searched for your 0 responses due to friends2friends discussion about "0" responses. I am glad I found yours, it is very interesting!

Sorry that your discussion didn't get as many posts as it should have. No, I have never had ID-theft related issues (I believe I have a discussion about that). I have an initial fraud alert on all my credit reports (for 90 days) & it can be extended every ninety days which I do. I'm not sure why a postal worker would do such a terrible thing. First, it's a federal offense to open someone's mail like that...second it's a felony offense (in USA) to commit ID Theft so I'm not sure how this mailman could do that. I'm not even sure why anyone would do that (unless they are desperate bum who doesn't mind going to jail). Pablo
