For those of you that haven't read this before a 15 year old girl from our little town ran away as did her boyfriend. She was a friend of my daughters. After talking through emails the girl decided to go stay with her brother. Well they were on their way to her brother's a number of states away from where they ran to and they were pulled over for a traffic violation. The girl's mom had taken her off the run away list but the boy's parents hadn't. I thought the boy was 16 but he was only 15 and did not have a drivers license. So when pulled over the boy was taken to juvenil detention and his parents should be there this morning. He is facing running away, grand theft auto for taking his parent car and driving without a license. The girl was put on a plane to her brother's house. Her mom actually got to talk to her because the police made the daughter get on the phone before taking her to social services. Both of the kids have learned a really big lesson I think though the boy is in so much trouble not just with his parents but with the law. I feel sorry for him because he was taking her to a family member so she would be safe. I do believe he only ran away because she had wanted to and don't think he would have done it otherwise. I can't believe at 15 he drove through some major cities that I have been through and was scared to death at their traffic. So the good news to all of this is that they are both safe and we know where they are.

Wow, that is a lot of punishment for the boy...justfied, but still a lot. This really shows how teens think short term. All they thought about was getting to her brother's house, not all the what if's...what if the cops looked for them, what if they had an accident. it does seem like a lot of punishment but it could be so much worse...just think what could have happened if he'd had an accident and killed another motorist (or the girl)! I understand but don't think it's fair that he's the only one being charged with anything. I mean he made the decision to steal his parents' car and drive without a license but wasn't she an accessory to all this? If it was a bank robber, the robbers AND the driver get in trouble so what's the difference really? I'm not trying to be against the girl since she apparently felt she had to leave for her safety but it just doesn't seem fair to all the legal problems on just the boy.

Young love makes you do crazy things but at least they are okay now.The boys punishment does seem kinda harsh sometimes you gotta let your kids live and learn on there own.

WOW I hope they both learned their lessons and hopefully with this being a first defense he will get probation. Parents should not press charges on the grand theft auto thing. That would be stupid. Hope it all works out and I am glad the girl is at her brother's now.

I am glad that they are fine. Is this the kids they picked up in Nebraska?

Perhaps they have both learned a lesson. They were also lucky that they didn't end up in a really bad situation like alot of runaways do. I hope both of them get whatever help they need. !!HAPPY EASTER!! **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

Rockwell Runaway - Cop must've caught this little guy running away and is having a good ole talk with him.
The most important part is that they're safe and hopefully both will be home soon. Gosh I'm sooo glad to hear that. Thanks for giving us an update on them. I've prayed for them as well as many others who are having troubles. Hopefully it'll be a learning experience for them both.
