i have a friend who stopped eating meat and her favorite food (french fries) for a month as a fasting for the coming holy week last year.. she also stopped eating chocolates during that month. my boyfriend is still fasting from eating any kind of meat.. he started eating fish for the mean time as what they say that you have to refrain from eating meat like pork and beef during the holy week.. have you thought of doing sacrifices before the holy week has arrived?

Nothing really changed for me, I guess the only thing is my way of reflecting of what I did on the past. I took time to look back on my life, what and where I did wrong, and somehow do my best to NOT do those things again. I'm never really a believer of sacrificing just because of a tradition or almost half of the world is celebrating it, I think I only did that when I still a kid and was not well-informed yet. Besides, I could always sacrifice anything, anytime, anywhere, if only I want to..

reflecting is one way of sacrifing for God.. taking time to reflect on your past and present as you thank Him for those is one way of showing how much you love the Lord..

dear skbh12 Do you think scarifies before god is necessary. Existence of god is every where. No sacrifies is required before god. If you are in right path in whole of your life and do good things for betterment of the downtrodden people i.e. help the poor man, give some money to needy person, behave politely, do not tell lie, do not quarrel, you will get the blessting of god for ever and you life will be hassle free. I have full faith on god. In our society we talk about fasting , offering puja etc to please god. I do not thing these are actually required to please god. Your work and deeds will pay. Some people call him Iswar, some call him god, some call him allah but the the meaning is same. Further I agree with your views that some times we fast on the occasion of puja/prayer etc. Keeping fast is also a scientific reason if you fast once in a week your body will be fit. pkc3000
