I have this girlfriend who has some terrible challenges during her monthly period. She related to me that she just get these urges to hit out at everyone. During this time she does not want to be spoken to and can be very unreasonable. She was naturally concerned, even though her family and those close to her know and understand that that is not how she is under normal circumstances. She picks fights with her partner and gets very angry when he attempts to walk away without taking up her challenge. Even her six year old son does not escape her wrath but even he as come to know the moments and that after a few days it will pass. She says she is quiet aware of how she behaves but just cant seem to stop herself. Medications had not helped her. One day both of us went to a doctors office (female) and during a discussion we posed the question to her as to what could cause my friends hormones to affect her in this manner and what could she do to at least lessen the effects. The doctor told us that many of the menstrual related discomforts that a woman suffers is due to the level off their salt intake. Salt causes fluid retention in the body and is most evident during PMS. She advised that we cut down on our salt intake as the time approaches. I suffer minimal discomfort during my period and I really do not know if my friend tried the method the doctor gave as we no longer work the same place and very rarely communicate. If you or anyone you know suffer from terrible PMS would you use or recomend the salt reduction theory? What are your thoughts on this?
