When I was a little girl, I wanted to be a song writer so badly. I loved to sing in my school choirs, and was told I had a passable voice. Then I met a man by the name of Jesper Harrison...at least I think that was his name, but my memory ain't so hot no more. Anyway, he came to our high school to help the choir I was in, and students from 5 other school choirs learn how to sing the old negro spiritual songs. Well, That did it. I fell totally in love with how a writer can touch so many hearts with the way a song is sung. It was one of the most awesome memories I have to this day. I had written poetry for many years by the time I hit high school. Many of my poems I put music to with my guitar. Then here a few years back, in 1999, I went to a poetry convention, in Washington D.C..Talk about awesome! I met the old singing group The Drifters. They were the intertainment for the evening. After their show was over, I actually got to have a drink with the singers themselves, and even got afew pictures of myself with them. I told them how badly I wanted to be a song writer. I was amazed when they took the time to read a couple of my poems. To me, this was an honor in itself. Then they did somthing so muc h more amazing...They wrote their agents phone number on my ribboned name card that all the poets wore. They told me I had a real talent, and that I should get ahold of their agent and talk to him. To this day, that very same name tag hangs from my wall in pride...lols I never did use the phone number, as I didn't believe I really had anything to offer. But they did further my desire to write a song. A couple years later, I did just that. In fact, I now have over 40 songs I have written. I even got to co-write a song with a brillant man, Ramsey Kearney.

I wish I could say yes on outlandish dreams coming true. It just never happened. I could sing and some guitar( acoustic). But I never took it that extra step. I was held back by my lack of skill on the guitar. I never really thought of just singing. It really never occured to me. If you're in a band you play as well as sing. So I seem to believe. Now I see that as a mistake. And I'm far too old to start. I play for myself and for who ever dosen't run away when I reach for my guitar. I can laugh and say it because when my kids were little thats what happened. My mother never liked the guitar...she wanted me to play piano. Well there you go. I always thought I would write and record at least one tune. But thats yet to happen. I'm still breathing so who knows.
