iodine allergy and underactive thyroid

I know I have an iodine allergy, found out by accident years ago. Can't go near Shellfish, etc. Nobody really eats fish in our house so I don't have to worry. The thing is - iodine allergy a nd an underactive thyroid pretty much go hand in hand ? I have an appointment on Thursday with doc to get tested, as I am not a huge eater. pretty much going all the time, but also exhausted, and the weight is there, not going anywhere, and for the amount I eat it doesnt make sense. Has anyone else connected the iodine allergy and the underactive thyroid gland - and how can you increase something that your allergic to?
