| Brad and Angelina's Political Family Tree By Sarah Hall Wed 26/03/08 (From an MSN article) Forget voting along party lines in the upcoming presidential election—Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt could vote along bloodlines, if they were so inclined. Researchers at the New England Historic Genealogical Society have discovered that Jolie is distantly related to Hillary Clinton, while Pitt is a cousin of Barack Obama. Jolie and Clinton are ninth cousins, twice removed, while Pitt and Obama are ninth cousins, according to a genealogical study conducted over the last three years. In addition to her kinship with Jolie, Clinton is also related to Madonna, Celine Dion and Alanis Morissette, researchers found. Other cousins include Camilla Parker-Bowles and Jack Keroauc. Obama, on the other hand, shares his ancestry with six U.S. presidents, including current Commander-in-Chief George W. Bush and his father, George H.W. Bush. Other far-reaching Obama relations include Gerald Ford, Lyndon Johnson, Harry S. Truman and James Madison, as well as Vice President D!ck Cheney and Sir Winston Churchill. Republican candidate John McCain's family tree proved tougher to trace, as records on his relatives were not as extensive as either Obama or Clinton's, researchers said. He was, however, found to be a sixth cousin to first lady Laura Bush. I find this a bit weird. What do you think, credible? | | | | | |

| | I'm not saying you should be impressed because all of us are related somehow someway to everybody famous or not. But it is exciting for me anyhow to have a family member who is a famous singer(atleast from where I am) Ricky Skaggs started playing music after he was given a mandolin by his father. At age 6, he played mandolin on stage with Bill Monroe. At age 7, he appeared on television's Martha White country music variety show, playing with Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs. He also wanted to audition for the Grand Ole Opry at that time, but was told he was too young. In his mid-teens, Skaggs met a fellow teen prodigy, fiddler Keith Whitley, and the two started playing together with Whitley's banjoist brother Dwight on radio shows. By 1970, they had earned a spot opening for Ralph Stanley and Skaggs and Keith Whitley were thereafter invited to join Stanley's band, the Clinch Mountain Boys Skaggs later joined J. D. Crowe's New South. For a few years, Skaggs was a member of Emmylou Harris's Hot Band. He wrote the arrangements for Harris's 1980 bluegrass-roots album, Roses in the Snow. In addition to arranging for Harris, Skaggs sang harmony and played mandolin and fiddle. Move to Nashville Skaggs moved to Nashville, Tennessee in 1980 and was signed to Epic Records, where he produced his debut album, Waitin' For The Sun to Shine. The album produced four successful singles, including two number one hits with "Cryin' My Heart Out Over You" and "I Don't Care" in 1982, songs that sparked the birth of the neotraditional country movement. Skaggs' lifelong dream of joining the Grand Ole Opry finally became reality in 1982. He racked up 12 number one hits and six top 10 singles during the 1980s. Skaggs picked up dozens of industry awards in the ensuing years, including four Grammy Awards and eight awards from the Country Music Association including Entertainer of the Year in 1985. Neotraditionalism and experimentation Into the 1990s and 2000s, Skaggs has embraced his bluegrass roots, as well as experimenting with new sounds. With his band, Kentucky Thunder, he is a perennial winner of Grammy Awards and International Bluegrass Music Association for best bluegrass album. "I always want to try to promote the old music, as well as trying to grow, and be a pioneer too," Skaggs once said. In 2000, he shared the stage with the now defunct jam band, On March 20, 2007, Skaggs released an album with rock musician Bruce Hornsby. In 2007, Skaggs is slated to release an album he recorded with The Whites on his Skaggs Family Records label I love his songs also and my favorite is "Honey(open that door)" Here is a link If you want to look it will show some of his albums and songs and other stuff. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ricky_Skaggs But not trying to impress anyone. | | | |

| | I don't think any of that matters really. If they were closer in relation it'd be kind of neat. | | | | | | |

| | I think it's a load of rubbish. It's just too neat for them to each be "related" to Clinton and Obama. It would be difficult to prove or disprove. | | | |

| | I don't believe it. I had a friend do my "family tree" one time and I was like a 9th cousin twice removed from like Joseph Stalin or some other crazy german. But either way it makes no difference on who is related to who for this election. That is of course unless someone can provide the American people with proof that Obama is related to Osama :) | | | | | | |

| | I think someone had to do a heck of a lot of digging and go very far back . When you start referring to cousins being twice removed means that there is a two-generation difference. You are two generations younger than a first cousin of your grandmother, so you and your grandmother's first cousin are first cousins, twice removed. So when you are sixth cousins and four or five times removed you are really almost so far distanced as to be non related. I am sure the DNA would not even have a smidgen of compatibility. I think if someone wants to waste their time digging up relationships that far apart they will find that everybody is related to somebody!!! | | | | | | |
