Tennis talk - is N. Djokovic to end King Federer's mighty reign?  

Before the 2007 ATP ended, many sport's think tanks were beginning to entertain the idea that Federer's hold of men's tennis top ranking was unraveling. Who wouldn't? He lost twice to D. Nalbadian; a first consecutive defeat after four years. But Federer kind of proved his critics wrong when he ended up winning the Master's season ending championship all right.

But the beginning of 2008 saw Federer's performance being significantly compromised. He pulled out of his first tournament because of flu, lost to Djokovic in the semifinals of Australian Open, then was booted by Murray after, and again lost to Fish recently. Federer was said to have suffered from 'mono' at the beginning of the season. But his prolonged slump in the ATP tour even more fuels unwelcome skepticism about his mighty reign.

On top of that, the display of talent by N. Djokovic - and the way he plays like world number one - adds fire to the already conflagrating debates about Federer's ability to stay as world number one.
