I need patterns |
|
I'm making items to sell at our church holiday bazaar in December. At last year's bazaar I noticed that most everything that was related to dogs sold rather quickly. So I thought I could crochet dog sweaters/coats or any other kind of "dogwear". Anyone have any simple patterns for dog stuff? I'm what I'd call an intermediately skilled crocheter. Mostly I've only done afghans. But lately I've been trying other things to benefit the church at the bazaar. So I've done some hats, scarves, even a purse. Right now I'm working on a net shopping bag. So I figure I should be able to follow an intermediate or simple pattern.

1. Ldyjarhead (4931) | 10 months ago | I don't have any for you myself, but I did an extensive search online once because I had the same idea that you did, but I never followed through with any of them. I can do baby blankets and afghans until the cows come home, anything that is just back and forth. I've never been able to grasp the concept of anything that requires increasing or decreasing, or works in rounds - I can't even master a simple granny square! I would so love to see some simple patterns too so I can get out of this rut that I'm in and make something a bit more interesting and useful!

youdontsay (2016) | 10 months ago | I learned a lot from this site: www.crochet.com/lessons/ Give it a try. Do something simple like a ski cap. Following a pattern doesn't go easy for me if I'm watching t.v. at the same time. I have to pay attention to what I'm doing and exactly what the pattern is directing me to do. [Which is a lot easier once you learn what the symbols mean!]

Ldyjarhead (4931) | 10 months ago | Ok, maybe I should clarify. I'm pretty sure I could do it if I really wanted to, but I crochet to relax and love to do it while watching TV, passenger in car, etc. If its something that requires too much counting or requires 100% of my attention, it's not for me! I made a single attempt at a simple doily several years ago and it came out great! I made another one and it was just a tad off the original in size, but still was ok I guess. I've tried since then and nope, I just can't get it if I'm not totally devoted to starting and finishing it in one complete session. That's not what crochet is for me, or how I want it to be I guess.

3. whittby (2059) | 10 months ago | I go to About.com for a lot of stuff. Here is a link that has tons of free patterns for all kinds of pet stuff - afghans, sweaters, you name it. I bet the dog fashions do sell really well, I've seen how expensive they are in the stores. http://crochet.about.com/... Good luck!

5. nancygibson (2992) | 10 months ago | Just a passing thought that you may need to consider, make sure that any pattern you choose is specifically authorised by its designer for resale. The copyright on most patterns, even free ones, is that you cannot sell an item made from that pattern without written permission from the designer. In most cases, that just means drop them a quick email and get them to ok it, but I know you wouldnt want to inadvertantly break the law when doing charity work, so its a good one to make sure you have got sorted before you start. Hope your sales goes really well!
