I just got the first disc of the first season of The Wire with my Netflix account. So far I'm not really enjoying it. I really didn't like or understand the 1st episode. The 2nd episode was a little better, but still not great. Watching the 3rd one right now.
Has anyone seen this? Anyone felt the same way? Does it get better, or should I just take the rest of the season off my netflix list? If I don't enjoy it now, is it a lost cause for me?

I loved the Wire! I wish I were watching the first season with you! I didn't pick it up until about two seasons ago. Yet another series they let me get interested in, then take it away from me *sigh* It gets a lot better, you made a good choice from netflix trust me.

So it does get better? I just didn't enjoy the first 3 episodes at all. If I didn't enjoy those, I didn't know if I would enjoy the rest of the show.
Does the show change? I mean, is the whole show about this cop just trying to catch this one guy? What happens through out the show?

Actually no, that's just where it starts. I wish I could fill you in on more, but I only started watching in their last few seasons. I can tell you that the one cop chasing the one guy will expand to the people around each, and the people it affects. These two will end up showing you how this chase affected all of this section of Baltimore. I guess it starts out slow, but I know when I got into it, it kept me riveted to the edge of my seat.
I guess since you are starting from the beginning, they are giving the background on everything that happened during the period when I was watching. Trust me, the plot does get thicker!!!

I hope so! Maybe I'll give it another chance and get a couple more dvds of it. I defeniatly should start liking the show withtin the first 9 episodes! lol. I would say if I don't then it just probably isn't the show for me X.X

I haven't watched it yet, but I've thought about it a few times. But now I'm not sure - if it's no good then there's no reason to waste my time with it. Let us now if it gets any better :-)

Man I didn't even pay attention to the 3rd episode. lol. I just didn't care =P As of right now I'm going to say I'm not going to waste my time with it either. I'm going to take it off my Netflix Queue right now...
But if someone does reply and tell me that it does get better, then I will add it again.
