Is cake necessary during birthday party?  

I do not think cakes are so important when it is an adults birthday, I know it never bothers me if I do not have a cake. Although if it was a special birthday like a 21st or something then I would probably get them a cake. I always get a cake for my childrens birthdays though.

I agree I think kids should have cakes for sure. I always get my kids cakes. I never want a cake myself either on my birthday but I always either buy hubby one or make him one. I just don't feel right if I don't haha. I feel like I need to get them a cake. I love the bakery cakes better though than making my own and it is like we are all looking forward to that yummy piece of birthday cake when some one's birthday comes around. I use to buy cupcakes to send to school too for daughter's birthday, I remember my mom doing that for me as well and it always made it seem that much more special.

I think the cake is unnecessary for the birthday party. Birthday party is just a meeting which you can invit your friends to play together, the main goal is let everybody happy, as long as people are happy, and the key person receive the blessing from others, that's enough, so, the cake is unnecessary.
