Independant truck drivers all across america are shutting down at least for today, to show how sick they are with diesel fuel prices, especially since diesel is a byproduct of gasoline and does not cost as much to refine.
I personally hope it does some good, I know my man works his tail off and at times I dont see him for 2 weeks at a time, then to see how much they take out of his settlement for fuel is crazy. He was home most of the time last week but had 5 small loads, that was just enough to cover the cost of the fuel, if he werent so close to paying off his truck he would be looking for other employment but with so much invested its kind of hard to throw that away at this point.
What are your views on the strike, or did you even know about it?

Well I know all about the fuel prices,it is crazy my husband was buying a truck few years back, but gave it up to be a company driver for the company,I thank the lord he gave that up when he did,I hoped that the strike would work, but I'm seeing on the local news that either you do the shut down or drive and make what you can for the day.Which most truckers need the money since they have so much coming out for fuel, but people have to realize it is trucks that deliver everything. They should get at least a break from the high fuel prices, like a discount, due to you have to have the fuel to deliver the loads and if you don't have fuel it dosen't get delivered.

That would be a good idea to have the truckers get a discount, although I just heard that that the oil companies made a major profit last year, hummmm, maybe they should just lower the price for everyone if they would just cut their profit some to the consumer, truck drivers and all alike. grrrrr

I heard of this just a couple of hours ago. We live on a major trucking route in Ohio. I wonder if the trucking traffic will be as bad?
My neighbor drives an independant truck. I can't wait to hear what he has to say about this. He always has a story.
I think that the price for fuel for truckers is outrageous. How do they expect people to live? I am not sure how I feel about the strike. I am still not too informed on it. Will it help the truck drivers?

We are hopeing it will help the drivers and all of america, If oil companies can make such a huge profit why do they have to sell barrels of oil so high? Because they are greedy, time to get out of the greed, have someone pay attention and maybe we can get the prices back down. When fuel prices are high, the trucks have to charge more to deliver whatever goods they have which means that cost gets passed on to the consumer, your groceries, your furnature, your computer, whatever it is we buy was probably delivered by a truck, so if the price for fuel goes down, the truckers can actually make a living and the cost doesnt have to be passed on to the consumer.
