Would / have you have a new partner if you split up with your childrens father?

Im just curious on this matter. I myself has split up with the father of my children and due to terrible experiences with my own step father I have vowed never to have another man in my life. I think its a shame as some people find great partners and parents but ill always have in the back of my mind what happened to me. How would you know you could trust somebody? - im not critasising by this i just want to know how you sense someone is trustworthy?
