Today has been a bit of a funny day for me, I can only say that I am glad it is over! It started off with me getting up this morning to a text message off my hubby, he wanted me to tell him when I was up as he had something to tell me. The something was that the snake we have, was pregnant and had laid her eggs, and he wanted me to go in and move them, sorry that was not happening, I like to look at them from a distance but there is no way I am sticking my hand in when she has just laid her eggs!! She will not bite you he says, no she will not get the chance to, sorry! I did check on them throughout the morning though just to make sure all was ok. 12 eggs she had laid, poor thing bet she is shattered.
So, we got to dinner time and I was in the kitchen making some dinner for my children, my daughter who is 2 years had just had a huge strop at me, and she stomped her foot at me, I said do not stomp your foot at me missy or else I will not make you any dinner. This did not impress her one little bit and she stormed off into the other room and slammed the door. I heard something smash and my 7 year old went in to her to check out what she had done. He came into the kitchen to me holding a broken picture and said that Georgia had broken it, I said ok just put it on the side out of the way over there, and I will dispose of it when I just finish making these sandwiches.
Now I do not know what then went through his mind, but he went back to the room where Georgia was still sulking, WITH the broken picture WITH the broken glass in it. Next minute I heard an almighty scream and my eldest son who is 16 went in, I heard him what have you done, and my heart sank, he shouted me and said mum you best come quick. I ran in and there was blood pouring from my little girls hand, and I mean pouring. I grabbed her hand and instantly held it up to try to stem the bleeding, I did not have a clue where it was coming from, I took her to the kitchen and by the time I got there I was covered in blood, she was covered in blood and I did not dare look at it, but I knew I had to. Instantly I could see it was deep I cleaned it up the best I could and phoned my doctors to see if I could take her there as they can sometimes deal with minor injuries. I phoned them and it was shut!! I phoned my hubbys doctors to see if they would see her, no nurses on duty, so no I could not take her there either. I do not drive so I had to ring my hubby at work and tell him what had happened and luckily he was able to get out of work. He took her to minor injuries hospital about 20 minutes from us, leaving me in tears, it upset me so much because everytime she looked at her finger she would sob and I mean sob, it broke my heart. They were in and out in under an hour though luckily, and although it was a deep cut she just had to have some steristrips and a bandage. I was so relieved. I had a serious chat with my son to try and find out what on earth possessed him to take the picture back in there, I said you should have just put it on the side like I said not go and take it back in there. He was pretty upset and shocked at what had happened and so I felt that a talking too was enough at that point. But how horrible that was, all that blood was just frightening. But she was really happy again after and even posed to have a photo taken of her poorly finger!!
So has everyone else had a good day? Anything horrible happen to anyone today or has it been a good day all round? But also has anyone else ever had something horrible happen to their children where there has been a lot of blood? I would love to hear about it.

That is really nice, I still manage to find injured animals and fetch them home! Where I used to live there were a lot of strays, and I only had to stroke them once and they would follow me home! I used to feed quite a lot of strays when I lived there, it cost me a fortune in cat food!

Oh goodness I am so glad that she is ok
Have you moved the 12 eggs yet though, I would never have a snake in anywhere near me lol no chance
I have had it with both my Children
My Son has always suffered with bad Nose Bleeds which scares me every time he can't even blow his Nose as it will bleed like mad
My Daughter is animic so when she just slightly cuts herself she bleeds badly I know it is scary very scary but I am glad that she is ok

Hey gabs, she is fine, she has a plaster on it now instead of the bandage, everytime the plaster starts to come off she comes running to me with her little lip trembling terrified because she can see the cut, the little darling she gets really upset.

Well my 8 yr old is a bit of a sissy (hope he never sees this) so even a minor cut is occasion for a lot of drama. But thankfully I have not had any occasion with him involving a lot of blood, I think he would have demanded to be hospitalized! For my part though, yes I have had two cuts on my fingers, so sever that the scars are still there. Both were while chopping vegetables. Once my right thumb nearly got severed and another time the top part of my left little finger almost flew off with a stroke of a knife. For quite some months, I had no feelings on my little finger. But both occasions have left their indelible memory in my mind mainly coz of the blood factor. To actually see so much blood flowing out of you is kind of sickening, I mean I nearly fainted though I fancy I am quite strong mentally.
How’s the finger now and isn’t Georgia feeling very important right now?
PS: yikes…but snake as a pet and then when the dozen beauties hatch, what will you do???

I did it once when chopping carrots, I thought I had chopped my finger off and could not look, I was with my dad at the time and he was laughing at me. It was not a deep deep cut but enough to make me nearly pass out. The blood that can come out is awful, it was spurting everywhere, I was so frightened, her finger is fine thank you for asking, it is no where near as bad as I thought it was!! As for the snakes, well when they hatch and are old enough then they will be sold.

The snakes are cornsnakes and we have 3 of them, the snake that laid eggs is only about 1ft and a few inches long, she is still quite young, she is orange and tan in colour, quite unusual. I am not scared of them, but I am not comfortable in handling them.

Oh sweety I know how stressed and upset this must have been for you - my kids are always getting into scrapes and one faints at the sight of blood! Oh Joy! I must admit that I tend to stay outwardly calm at the time even though I am shaking inside and once everything is sorted out I fall apart - every time! I think the worst accident they ever had was when my daughter at the age of 3 fell down all the stairs , landed on her head at the bottom and we have a concrete floor with just a carpet on top! Luckily she wasn't badly injured but I was so terrified - she could have killed herself! xxx

It was horrible mummymo, she was so upset I think that is what did it. She is fine today though and although it does look nasty it is not as deep as I thought it was thank goodness. It is in such an awkward position though it is going to take a while to heal.xx

My day has been pretty good so far, knock on wood.
A couple of summers ago my boys were out playing(teenagers). The next thing I know a neighbors knocking at my door telling me the youngest was hurt. So I go running outside thinking he had a bike wreck. I get out there and there laid my son in a pool of blood unresponsive. He was shaking all over. A big hole in the side of his face. He bit from the inside of his mouth out. Now I'm thinking he's having a seizure. No one would tell me what happen. Come to find out his brother threw a bat and in which tripped him. He had a minor concussion, stitches in his cheek and staples in his forehead. I did really good though I didn't freak out. I was proud of myself. Aren't kids fun?

I say touch wood, and touch my head!!! Wow how good were you to stay so calm that must have been awful, I cried over her finger, yet when my boys all cut their heads open I never batted an eyelid. I did not panic or anything it just upset me with her as she was sobbing the kind of sob that gives you the hiccups.

Yeah, I think its harder for me if they are freaking out themselves. I might have not been so calm if my son was conscious and knew what had happened. Because I think he would have been freaking out.
