What's Happened to Lynettes Mum?, the new series has lack of continuation

At the end of the last series of Desperate Housewives Lynette's Mum showed up just as she found out she had cancer and said she was going to stay even though Lynette didn't want her to. It was suggested there was some kind of issues between them from the past but now they seem to be getting on fine and nothing has been said about it at all.
And also at the end of the last series Eadie clearly hung herself while Carlo's was kissing his ex wife in another house down the road. Yet in this series they made out she waited till he was just outside the house to do it and the old lady called him back out so she nearly did die accidentally etc.
Do you think the old writers quit with the writers strike and they had to get new people in who didn't know exactly how the last season ended or something? as there is a serious lack of continuation going on there.

there are a lot of things that happened in the series after the ones that you mentioned- lynette's mom leaving, eadie hanging herself. but i don't want you to miss the fum of finding out for yourself.
however, i would answer your question on what happened to lynette's mom. in one of the episodes, it was shown there that lynette asked the help of her stepfather to look for her mother. since her mother contacted the stepfather to ask for monetary help. and because of that incident, the three of them- lynette, the stepfather and lynette's mom, were able to sit down and discuss the past and their current situation. eventually, they are able to resolve things out and it is decided that lynette's mom will stay with her stepfather since he is now living alone in a big house.

No, it has nothing to do with new writers. This season started before the strike and everything shut down when that started. New episodes are finally starting to come to tv since the strike ended and everyone went back to work.
Also, I don't think they would change the writers again. Marc Cherry, the creator and head writer, took a step back for the second season and left it up to the other writers. That season tanked. Since then he has come back and it's been better. If they were going to hand it over to new writers, they might as well cancel the show.
As for Edie hanging herself, it does appear that she went through with it as a cliffhanger for last season. When this new season started, she was indeed hanging but she was holding onto the beam as well, waiting for just the right moment to let go. And of course, as you saw, her hoax backfired.
Everything has come out into the open with Lynette and her mom, as well as her stepdad. Even Lynette's sisters make an appearance but she comes away with a new understanding of what her mom was going through in the past.
