I am hoping for the best...

In a few minutes I will be heading for school to get my teaching load for this summer term. I do hope that I will be given a good schedule. For the past summer terms, I have been given schedules that really do not work well for me. During regular semesters, we are given at least 21 units teaching load (depending on our evaluation). This is equivalent to seven three-unit subjects. For some, this may be equivalent to fewer subjects if their subjects are six-unit subjects. For those who have good evaluation, they can get as much as 24, 27 or even 30 units. The more subjects you have, the more time you spend in school. During summer term, we are given at least 3 units and as much as 12 units (regardless of evaluation). These subjects are to be scheduled on a daily basis as compared to regular terms which is every other day. And since you are given less subjects during this time of the year, it means you have more break times. For instance, I will be given 2 subjects to teach. If my first subject is at 9am to 1030am and my next subject is at 3pm to 430pm, this means that I have 4.5 hours of break. What on earth will I do during that number of hours? Going home may not really be a good idea because it is financially impractical. Quite very often, we are given this kind of schedule. In fact, there were times when my first subject is early in the morning, my next is at noon and the last is late in the afternoon. Urgh! To be honest, we cannot really complain when this happens. It's either we take it or leave it. We cannot even bargain because there is no way that a schedule of a particular subject can be changed after enrollment period is over. Otherwise, the students' schedules will be affected. I am hoping for the best this summer term. I wouldn't want wasting my precious time.

Hoping the best for you too. Maybe, the good thing would be to bring along with you some work so you will have it done in the library or at the canteen when you have more extra free time. Ahh, better yet, bring along your laptop and visit the nearest wi-fi area or snack house, you won't be bored, I guess. Are you in Baguio? Cheers! Let's hope for the best though.

Well, if it sounds a little not worth doing, it's something you need to decide on. I mean our lives are a complete set of our decisions. See you around. Cheers! Btw, where do you teach? If you don't mind.

yes my dear friend, i am from baguio city. i could do some work in the library but i will only be teaching two subjects this summer term. i mean i could finish my paper works in one or two hours. my first class is at 1030am to 12 noon and my next class will be at 530 in the afternoon. what will i do with the rest of the 3.5 hours? well, i could bring my laptop and do some work in the nearest cafe with wi-fi. thank you for that advice. however, will i be doing such for the entire summer term?

Wow that really stinks. I hope you end up getting a good schedule so you don't have to kill so much time. I'm sure it is nice to have some time between classes but 4.5 hours is a bit much. I feel bad for you, I know I wouldn't like it. But like you said... if you don't do it someone else will. Again..good luck. Brightest Blessings, mari
