 I think Nas is the greatest rapper of all time. There are a lot of good artist out there, but I believe he exceeds them all. He is truly a lyrical poet and he was the first rap artist to get 5 mic's in the Source Magazine for "Illmatic". Clearly setting him above all other rappers. What do you think?

Nas is also still alive and he is still just as good as he was when he first started. Nas also used less profanity in his lyrics then 'Pac. He makes you think. I wish 2pac was still alive today, because if he was, I think the music would be alot better. | |

 babykeka80 (1169) | 2 years ago |  There are so many rappers today that are completely commercial. They dont write their own lyrics and most of the things they say are so corny. I have been turned away from rap music quite a bit. I think there are few left that are truly genuine.

I was reading the source a few years ago about ghostwriting and it said that Nas had written lyrics for about 70 percent of the artist during the 90's. That is amazing. | |

| 2. MrNiceGuy (3029) | 2 years ago |  I disagree. I like Nas, but I think a lot of his lyrics are simplistic and average. Not to mention some of his more popular (Not best) songs like Hip Hop is Dead were sampled from 30 year old songs (although they were well done).

3.  allen0187 (1655) | 2 years ago |  i really like nas a lot. i think he definitely belongs to the top five but to say that he's the greatest is probably taking it too far. i can agree if you say that he's the greatest lyricist. he's lyrics are so profound and his word-play is phenomenal. the words and verses he spits clearly create an image in your mind. plus his messages have substance.
for me, the greatest rapper is tupac. without a doubt he changed rap music in so many different levels and it would not be such a mainstream success right now if not for tupac.
