| |  Sometimes the Salvation Army helps low income families. Also, if there is a medical issue, your energy company may have special rates, and sometimes some companies have low income rates if you qualify.

| |  I don't know if there are places that help but most utilities allow you to pay a flat rate each month so it doesn't fluxuate in the summer or winter, for instance my electric bill is $65/month all year long, no matter if I have the heat on all day or not at all.

| |  How does this work? Do you tell the electric company what your willing to pay each month, or do they tell you what it would be each month? I have been thinking of doing this, just didn't know if it would be worth it.
