Do you have an "Idol" Show in your country like "American Idol"

In India we have a show called "Indian Idol" which is very similar to "American Idol" - performances, audits, finalists, judges, SMS etc etc. Do you have a similar TV show in your country? How popular is it?

In China,there are so many similar shows,but the most popular one is called"Super girl". Actually,I am not fond of that,but many people enjoy that show so much.I remembered that even my 76 year old granny voted for her "idol" by sending instant message to a special number! Well,this sort of show do entertain people's lives,so they are always popular!

We have several shows like this and one is called "Indian Idol" There are some dance shows too and I guess these shows get the watchers involved and improve show ratings!

I think we do have an Idol search here in my country. I haven't watch it yet and would love to one of these days. And I'm intrigue who are the judges and the Simon Cowell version. Hehehe..
