well...i am in this trauma of choosing between my career and my parents. The siuation is like i have to move to sydney for my masters and everything is done except my parents...I am the only child in the family....So they are a bit sceptikal about me going to some new...and unknown place ...
But it will immensely boost my career if i move over there...So this is now like a dilemma for me...

It is in our nature to leave our nests someday. Why not go when there is an opportunity? As for the parents, surely you will be good and you will still have communications so why not? anyway, you can visit them from time to time.
And for my little broader approach to your problem, I guess I would suggest if you ask your self what will really make you happy. Career is not everything and if parting for so long to your loved once wont help, it is always ok to find some other time for career. I believe that there will be next time for all of us and that time would be more favorable. After all the words I give, still, your heart knows best, just remember that choosing is a challenge itself and that to be troubled in choosing, one might misjudge. What I say is that cool. Sooner of later you will have your insigt that anything others say wont match.

Well I understand. I am the only child too and my parents didn't send me to this really good college only because its far away.
Try and convince them that you'll come back as soon as you finish your masters. Meanwhile, let somebody be there to take care of them in their hour of need.
