Retired Warriors  | |  Sharon Soileau, a thoroughbred trainer in Louisiana, to me exemplifies integrity in horseracing.
She has on her farm some older horses whose time on the track has come and gone. In their day they were warriors of the track, slugging it out in the claiming ranks. A few made Sharon a little bit of money, and now she honors those horses in their retirement by providing a home for them to live the remainder of their lives in peace.
This just seems to me to be the right thing to do. I see it as repaying the horse for what it did for her, and that's a noble thing.
