dont tell me you pour it on your sink? this is the one main reason why our sink gets clog. here is a tip i want to share. put crampled old news paper in a plastic then pour the used cooking oil there. the news paper will absorb the oil then you can trow it now on the waste basket.
do you have any tips to share on how to dispose your used cooking oil? my cousin who lives abroad told me that she pours the used cooking oil on a pot of soil, there are no plants on it just pot and soil.
do you have any tips that you can share to us?

i use my used oil as an emergency fuel for an oil lamp when needs arise,i store all my used oil in a big plastic container for future use...im still looking for a much productive way of using used cooking oil, instead of throwing them away...maybe we can use it to fuel generator or a vehicle maybe....who knows?

oh yes, i believe that filipino are inteligent, but the government dont support the wise and intelligent people here. in other countries the government support the scientist but it is sad to see that in our country they are taken forgranted.

yes its true they use used oil in japan to make laundry soap and the good thing there is that they give it for free in exchange for their used oil.im sure our great inventors can make a more interesting use for used oil if given a chance.

well when our can of coffee is gone I put the can under the sink. Than when i have cooking oil I usually pour it in the old coffee can. I also will put chicken bones and such in the coffee can, put the lid on than toss in the trash. Its a good way of keeping the aquirrels, possums, raccoons, and birds from ripping the trash open outside when the food scraps are placed in the coffee can/

thats a good tip too. but people in our country drink coffee from a single sachet packs. i think most of us do that. but that is a good tip, specially with the food scraps. thanks for your tip.

hi roni!
that's a really good tip you have there. we don't usually throw used cooking oil in the sink. in fact, we kind of recycle cooking oil. mother doesn't like anything to be wasted. if it still can be used then it will be used. but if not, the cooking oil is thrown away in the soil. and the frying pan and all the oily big cooking utensils are often washed in the "poso" (pump) and so the oil goes to the drainage canal which is usually readily sinks in the soil.

we're really lucky that we have the pump. because when there's no electricity, we don't have water too. so we get our water from the pump. but its kinda alarming because the groundwater is decreasing. lately, we have to put some water first into the pump before it can pumped out water from the ground.

Well, we usually throw it in our garbage, after its been used a couple of times. We don't use our cooking oil just once. We have a container on our counter that we put the cooking oil in after its cooled off. We take a small strainer to get all the food particles out of it. Then we use that a few more times until it gets dark. Once that happens, we take the garbage out of the can, bag and all, and put a second bag in to line it. We put the first bag back in, then we pour the grease into it. As long as both bags don't get snagged, this works until garbage day, when it becomes the landfills problem. Don't turn your nose up at me, cooking oil does way less to the environment than most of the things we throw away!!!

Hi again...
Thanks for dropping by and adding to the catch-up chat. I posted a photo of the moon that I took while sitting around the fire if you'd care to drop by and see it. It would be great to share that experience with you!
I appreciated you posting this informative discussion. Your ideas and those who added theirs are good ones. The interesting thing for us is that we rarely deep fry anything so we do not have old cooking oil to dispose of. If and when we do I now have some new ways to get rid of it and I appreciate that.
