What must i do in order to have long-lasting friends?

To be a good friend you have listen more than you talk, give more than you take and be there when someone needs a friend. Honesty plays a big part in it too; I would rather have a friend be honest with me and have my feeling hurt temporarily than to have them skirt the truth and 'be nice'.
