Friend or foe - Man's best friend?

Isn't it odd that 'man's best friend', the dog, was domesticated for the first time between 17,000 and 14,000 years ago, probably in China. DNA eveidence concludes that the subspecies known as 'dog' definitely evolved from wolves.
While the dog has history forever intertwined with human development, its feral ancestor the wolf, has been the subject of fear and myth and has been driven almost to extinction.
Why do you think there is such a difference in attitude to such similar animals?

I did not realise that the wolf was in danger of extinction, that is a shame the wolf is a lovely animal, but I think they do have a bad history and yet there are some dogs that I would say are on our streets that are way more dangerous than any wolf.

Dogs and wolves still behave the same. A wolf will be loyal to whoever the leader of the pack is, whether dog or man. Dogs too can be wolflike, which is why even if your dog is the most friendly and docile creature, you should never trust them 100%.
