hip dysplasia  | |  My dog has had hip dysplasia for about five years and is now seven.What i wondered was the fact that she seems absolutely fine and the only sign of any problems is that she sometimes has a bit trouble getting up if she has been lying a while.She still acts like a pup and wont stay down and is forever jumping up(even though we try to stop her).I havehad her at the vet recently and she said that her hips have deteriorated a lot but what I dont understand is surely if her hips were sore would she still carry on acting like a pup if it hurt?Or could it bethat she is so scared of the vet that it seems worse to them cause she doesnt like them touching her?

| | | | 5.  desertdarlene (5842) | 2 years ago |  Some animals tend to ignore the pain when they are emotionally excited. I think this dog really loves to play so much that she overcomes the problem. But, that's probably not always going to happen and eventually, she will not want to get up at all after lying down. I hope you have a long life with your dog and the surgery to fix the problem, in the future, won't be prohibitive.
