With you, Jennifer and me that makes three of us. I have two Boston Terriers. I put one under each arm. Holly is 8 and the Aunt of the new one. Jocelyn is almost four months old. I grew up with big dogs and never thought I'd like a small dog, much less OWN TWO of them. I have a Border-collie/Aussie Shepard mix as my "real dog". The little one was for the wife, she grew up with them. When I found out what amazing athletes they were and how kind they were, I fell in love with her. She has proved to me that pound-for-pound, Boston Terriers ARE REAL dogs. Tough as nails and wins at tug-of war with the Collie EVERY time. She has the biggest mouth and choppers I've ever seen on a "little dog" and she can carry around a full-size soccer ball with her. She will play Frisbee until she dies. Thats the only way she'll stop on her own. The puppy is slowly understanding her role in the tribe. The Collie is the Alpha and when it comes down to it, she will be the boss. Holly, the eight year-old, sometimes challenges, but is ultimately denied. The puppy was a mean little race around and bite kinda dog and the other two didn't care for her much at first. The pup has learned that there is a time and a place for play and a time to be patient and stand in line for food, and thats third in line. I expect that could change in the next couple of years, this little puppy is a terror. I think they should make a horror movie with 50 of these little Bostons wreeking havoc in some small town somewhere. I imagine they are like piranha when attacking. It sure would scare the hell out of me to have that many jumping at you. The thought gives me shivers. That got kind of dark, didn't it? Sorry. Yeah, I take them everywhere, unless I have to spend more than a few minutes with them in the car alone. I worry that someone will steal them. They would go right to anyone. They think the whole world should be petting them and saying hi, so they'd be gone in seconds. The Collie won't go into the car voluntarily. Rides are not her thing. We can't go anywhere without the Bostons. They see someone put on a jacket or shoes or even if they jingle some keys, and they camp by the door. Whining and howling, not loud, but enough for us to hear it. Any time I CAN take them I WILL take them. It doesn't matter if I am just going to get gas, they want to come along with me. When I take them to the park to run in the open, they know it even before we turn down the road to the park. Its such a ruckus till we actually GET there. I keep them on a short leash at first, once they calm down I can let them loose and still manage them. They tend to be too friendly sometimes and won't pay attention to commands. I hate to yell at them, because they pout like little kids when they are scolded. Spoiled and rotten they are, but they are the best dogs I've ever had. I'll have one or more of these dogs for the rest of my life. I'll never be without one. My kids are adults now so I think of them as the kids, not children, but kids. When I want them all to come I can say "here kids", and they all come. I can call them by name too, so if just one dog is misbehaving, I can just call on THAT dog. Do you worry about someone stealing your dogs?
