I have a rocking chair that has been in my grandma´s home. She was born in 1885 and I think the chair is more than a hundred years old.... I often prefer old things instead of new ones..

Most of my furniture is also old and handed down from my grandparents and my parents...I prefer it that way...I have the first quilt my grandmother ever made and she would of been 92 this year if that tells you how old that is and I have all of her china cabinets all hand made filled with all of her hand made creative idea's she made a whole village made of popsickle sticks and one of toothpicks now if those are not unique and old I don't know what is..I love my old look of my house and if the rest of the family would go with me I would have the rustic boards on the walls still...

Sounds great, the old things that took a lot of work to do, are the best. I am sure you are inspired by you grandmothers creativity.. Maybe you get your rustic boards on the walls some day.

hmmmm...that is an interesting question....i don't necessarily like old things but i do think that old models tend to last more than the new ones we have.... take for example the refrigerator that we had.... it was just about 2 or 3 years old and yet its body had been damaged already and the cooling capacity had lessen....but the other one we had before it, lasted about 7 or 8 years! i am not sure if it is because of the way we used it or the manufacturers really allowed it to be that way so that we will keep on buying their products.... well, back to your question: i think the oldest things in our house are mostly everything because those are owned by my parents...and these things they have bought either at the beginning of their marriage or even before they got married....the only exception as i have mentioned is the appliances that, for me, are not of good "quality".

Well, you may be right about the refrigerators, mine, or the one that belongs to the apartment where I live, is at least 16 or 17 years old and still working.... Thanks for your response!!
