since i dont have anything to do this summer break, i decided to work in a call center near our place. i was apprehensive at first because of the rumors circulating around this job but i think that if i really want to earn money, i should grab it. what do you think of working in call centers? would you also like to receive irate callers for 8 hours a day?

2. vipulchawla (808) | 6 months ago | Working in a call centre is a different experience at all. I had always been listening about call centres and the economic growth it offers, its upcoming boom in the industry. And people often used to think of a call centre job as an easy task. So i always thought of trying it once. I joined one call centre when i was going through the last semester of enginnering during my college days. I hardly worked for 2 months out of which 1 month i had complete training on the product and voice. I pulled my ears after that. I realized the pain in such a job. Listening to customers with earphones on for a continuous 8 or 9 hours is too hectic for me. I even had some bad experiences. Had to listen to abuses from irate customers. It would make me angry sometimes but then i would realize that its not going to be my job in future so i hardly worried about that.It just gave me extra pocket money for myself. I didnt even tell my parents about it. i told them after my college and it was like a surprise to them. But if you think of doing it during your holidays then ya, it could be a nice experience I am working as an Engineer now and would never think of joining a call centre until forced to by the circumstances.

4. hindichinese (483) | 4 months ago | here in the philippines Call center or shall we say BPO's. There are so many call centers here. And because of what the companies give to their agents they seemed more attractable to anyone even if they have already a good job. They quit and wishing to enter the "greener pastures" in the BPO industry.Even I whos not a College Graduate I intended to apply for it,But fortunately a great job had come first and the company loves me. So i dont want to push through the BPO industry... *but my decision isn't final yet... hehehe

5. coolchic101 (692) | 4 months ago | I used to work in different call centers and to do this job, you have to be strong enough to deal with rude and irate customers everyday. Do not let their negative behaviors get to you. Just let them vent and never interrupt them while they vent, after they finish venting, then you can say "I understand how that has upset you." and then continue with your suggestion on how to resolve their issue. Never apologize for their behavior, don't say "I'm sorry" because you didn't do anything wrong. Always say "I understand". Customers are more open to receive advice when they are calmer and have finished venting.

8. NettyB (226) | 4 months ago | I work from home full time as part of an internet "help desk" mostly people are nice. Some are irate or grumpy when they first call in, but I feel it is my job to have them in a better mood by the time we hang up...remember "kill em with kindness!"
