Do you place cutlery neatly in their own pile when washing up? |
|
You know, teaspoons neatly together, tablespoons in a different pile and so on? My wife has a hard time drying the cutlery when I wash, as I toss them into the drainer any way they come out the sink(well, handles all the same way). I don't have a problem with this, as when I dry them myself, it doesn't matter what's in the handful I pick up. Are you very particular with your cutlery like my wife, or don't think it matters all that much?

1. book1962 (9501) | 5 months ago | hi muscare we just handle this like you do, we have a double sink here so one is for washing the dishes and the other one is for putting the washed dishes in so they dry a bit before actually using the kitchen towel. We just put the cutlery into the second sink when its cleaned and pick it out from there. Only exception are the small kitchen knives so no one gets hurt, they are always on top between the two sinks to dry immediately with a towel when cleaned.

muscare (1152) | 5 months ago | I think doing the dishes is such a chore as it is(actually makes my lower back ache standing at the sink), I don't want to drag it out any longer than I have to by categorizing. A double sink would definitely be handy.

book1962 (9501) | 5 months ago | thats totally understandable. I have problems with a vertebral disc right now and also suffer some lower back aches. The double sink was my idea, its better than just having one sink and then this space where to put the washed dishes next to the sink. As I rinse my dishes after washing with dishwasher liquid that was the most practical way, so I dont have to pile everything there, empty the sink, refill with clean water and put everything back to the sink again.

2. Feona1962 (2794) | 5 months ago | Hi muscare...no problems with it here..All of it goes in the dishwasher and then I grab whatever and just put it away..The only time they are separate is when they go in the drawer...*smiles*

muscare (1152) | 5 months ago | Lucky you, you have a dishwasher. Hmmm, actually so does my wife. Me, LOL! Sometimes I'm tempted to throw them all in the same compartment in the drawer, just for the reaction, LOL!

muscare (1152) | 5 months ago | Funny, I accidently(honestly) put a fork in the spoon compartment one day, and as my wife has a habit first thing in the morning of placing the spoon in her mouth while she gets her cereal ready, she poked herself with the fork. LOL, ok, ok, I know my sense of humour is a bit warped, but it was funny, and she didn't hurt herself. Kids are great when they help, or at least think they are helping, and when you have plenty of time to do whatever job they are helping with!

muscare (1152) | 5 months ago | Hmmm, jairgirl, you sound very much like my wife in regards to certain things. I will say that the plates are different, they should be kept in the same size order. I can see you would have a hard time drying the cutlery here too, and possibly you'd struggle with the dreaded 'Toilet Seat' issue, LOL! Anyway, thanks for sharing!

muscare (1152) | 5 months ago | I should be so lucky that all women be like my wife. Now that would be a very nice place!! Nice to see we also agree about the toilet seat as well, and have the same agreement, 'you don't complain, I don't complain!'. As you say, why worry about minor issues anyway. Things like that are better having a joke about!

4. twoey68 (5431) | 4 months ago | When I'm washing the silverware I don't sort it except spoons, forks and butter knives all go in one holder and everything else (sharp knives, serving spoons, ect.) all go in the other. All of them go in handles first except the sharp knives. **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

muscare (1152) | 4 months ago | I'm less particular, but I do keep sharps separate, and I do have handles all up the right way, obviously more for safety reasons.

5. eagle_f15 (621) | 3 months ago | Nope I dont pile them neatly so does my husband. We have 2 sinks. Normally either one of us will do the dishes after eating so as long as the dishes get wash and clean its the person's job. But if we both do the dishes then one would soap the dishes and the other will rinse+ leave them on the rack to dry. We don't use a piece of cloth and wipe it dry. We just leave em there to dry by itself and when it;s dry I will just keep them back neatly in the cabinet. We also don't have a dishwasher...I think most Asian homes don't have them. We stil do manual washing.

muscare (1152) | 3 months ago | We only have the one sink, so we tend to dry them, and most times we will do them together, but I think my wife would rather wash, but then so do I. I think dishwashers use too much water, and would never have one in my home. We still have the cutlery stacked in their sections of the drawer though.
