Have you ever had to lose a dog because of health conditions?  | | | |  I've been without a dog of my own for some time now, and it really is quite lonesome. My past pup, was one I retrieved from a shelter. He was about a year and a half when I got him, and unfortunately I only had him about a year or two after that. He was a yellow lab-husky mix named Ace. Such a beautiful dog! And he was so mellow and loving. Sadly he was diagnosed with hip dysplasia and had to be taken away for proper treatment. Lucky for me, they came to take him while I was away at school. My mother said she cried when they took him (though she never was real close with him.) We spoke with the animal hospital that took him, they put him in an animal rehabilitation center. They said once he was doing better he would be placed in a home with an elderly person who needed a companion but couldn't handle a hyper dog. It's great to know they did not have to put him down, but I still miss my dog. He filled a void in my heart... Something that isn't often done.

| |  My husband had a dog, Bogey, that passed away about 9 years ago. Bogey was very old and had arthritis and was not getting around well at all. He was home with our one child (at the time...we have 3 now) and I was at work when I got a call that he was taking our dog and our child to the emergency vet clinic. I met them there and come to find out, Bogey had a stroke. My husband made the painful decision to have Bogey put down. Bogey would never recover. He didn't recognize my husband, myself or our child. Such a sad time, but he's in a better place now.

| |  Yes I have lost a dog do to a medicl condition. I bought my wife a puppy. For some thing that she could take care of and train. She loved Bridget thats what we named her. We had her for 16 years, and she came down with canser and I had to take her to the vet to have her put down. I did put her in the back yard. With her toy that she liked, and with my house shoes that she always wanted to lay on. Yes we miss her very much. When Iam in the back yard I always speak to Bridget. She has been gone for 2 years now.

| |  I knew this lady who lived next to my granfather's house (i should really call it my grandmother's house as he died recently) and she had an Alastion called Paddy. He was gourgous but when she was out without him she told me that he had had a number of sevearl fits during the week and it had to be put down. I was so upset because he was a lovely dog, not too agressive or too lazy just really quite, it broke my heart and it has been broken to many times recently. It's hard when you've lost an animal, all of my cats have had to go because of health poblems and i have had 14. :(

I am so very sorry for the loss of your grandfather. And the loss of so many beautiful animals is so sad to hear about... I currently have a cat who seems to be getting sick, we've had her for about 7 years and I'm terrified of when we'll lose her.
